December Windows Update RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know what today's updates were, other than the security ones? I thought I saw one or two fly by that didn't say "security" but I don't know how to figure out what they were.

  • On Vista you can check using the appropriate control panel applet. On XP the Add/Remove Programs applet doesn't allow you to sort by date installed, but you can still go to Windows Update (or Microsoft Update, if you use multiple Microsoft programs and want all of them updated through the same interface) and check your update history there:

  • Ken, I'm talking about the WHS updates. There were a number of them. I do know what updates were applied to my Vista & XP PCs.

  • None of these are Windows Home Server specific, otherwise they'd specify it in the title.  If you're interested in what these do, simply search for the KB on microsoft's site (or google).

  • Bobsie, you can use the same methods for finding out what updates were actually installed on Windows Home Server that you would on any other PC, you just have to do it remotely.

However, given that Windows Home Server should be configured to download and install updates automatically, the answer to the question "what updates were installed" is "all the updates that your server needed. :)
