Activation difficulties Windows 7 Ultimate RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I bought a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate last year & activated it successfully on 180710. I swapped the hard discs out of the PC it was installed on in Dec & reactivated it on 081210. I now have a 'counterfeit copy' message on my desktop. The discs/packaging/labels/stickers are exactly as described on this website. I have attempted to reactivate online & by phone without success.

I have run MS Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool, and the output is shown below. Can someone please explain how I can get it working again?

Unfortunately, you have been caught by a counterfeiter.
The Key in use here is an MSDN account key, which is not allowed to be sold.
You need to try and claim a refund from the vendor - if you can find them again!
Please read the Blocked Keys sticky, and the Buying Safely Online sticky here
They will explain the details of what has happened, and what you can do about it now, and how to avoid it happening again.

As far as getting this system legal is concerned, you will need to purchase a Full legal license for Windows 7 Ultimate if you want to avoid having to reformat/reinstall.
You could also revert back to your original operating system using the recovery disks from your manufacturer.
