Not Valid Windows, 2 years after purchase, works fine if administrator logs in after restart.

Question
-
Hi, have a user that windows pops up with "not genuine" for her, normal user, not local administrator. If I restart the computer and then log on as administrator, it will then become genuine and works for a few days. Currently on about day 5 or 6 since last occurrence of not valid.

Thanks Noel, Basically, what seemed to fix this was that we had to do the following by command line.
- Right-click the CMD.exe file and select Run As Administrator.
- In the CMD window, type: slmgr.vbs -ipk <type your product key here>
- To activate windows after changing the key, type: slmgr.vbs -ato
That was the 15th of March, since then (knocking on wood) it has not reverted into a "non genuine state"

You can reactivate the PC using telephone activation and SLUI.
1. On the PC, open a command prompt with administrator user rights and launch SLUI by typing SLUI 0x4.
2. In the Windows Activation tool, on the Click the nearest location page, click Next to continue.
3. Call the Microsoft Product Activation Center. In the United States, call 855-469-9468. For a list of other phone numbers, see How to contact a Microsoft Product Activation Center by phone.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/950929
4. Follow the automated instructions and, when prompted, provide the 63-digit Installation ID.
5. Enter the confirmation ID provided by the phone activation system, and then click Activate.
6. To verify the licensing status, open a command prompt as Administrator on the device.
7. Navigate to the <system drive>:\Windows\System32 folder, type the following, and then verify the License Status now displays “Licensed.”

Unfortunately the "activate by phone" option does not come up. I get
"buy a different key online" yeah, well no. not need to do that.
"activate with different key" doesn’t need a different key, machine activates under admin log on just fine and goes a week for the user without issue.
"contact Dell about this problem” just opens the windows help without much help.

Any other thoughts/fixes? I’m about ready to switch out her pc to a windows 10 machine and go “office space” on this one.

So went through a reboot as administrator yesterday, came up as genuine, just got call from user that it is no longer valid again.
Going to reboot again, but getting closer to "Office Space" quickly at this rate.

For some reason the User identity is unable to read the proper BIOS markers - which are present in the Admin report.
This would tend to indicate that the problem lies with permissions, or the required services are running under the wrong credentials.
This could take some time to properly diagnose and fix in the forum, so your best option may be to go to MS support directly and see if they can help.

It would probably be a good idea to run another user-mode MGADiag report and see what it says.
