  • Money Sunset US works fine with Windows 10.  But you do need to replace your mnyob99.dll file with a patched version.  See the first "sticky" thread on this forum:

Post back if you need more help doing that replacement.

  • Actually, the latest update to Win 10 broke Money Sunset for me again. This time the registry tweak for IE coupled with the mnyob99.dll file doesn't resolve it.

Microsoft has always been the king of backwards compatibility, so this feels so odd. I need my Money to run, so I'm just going to grab a sledgehammer and run a virtual machine of Windows 7 or 8 to keep running it. I feel bad for the less technically inclined.

  • A VM will certainly be a solution.  But there have not been other reports of problems with Money after the recent Windows 10 updates.  And the registry change has not been needed since the August 11th update.  What version and build of Windows 10 are you running?

  • I'm running Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36)

This is a clean install of Win 10 too, not an upgrade from a previous version. The error I get is "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002). Click OK to close the application."  This started right after the latest Windows 10 updates, which also completed nuked my Hyper-V install. I had to re-install Hyper-V to get it working again, perhaps I should do the same with Money to see if that does the trick.

  • Oh well, I can't even reinstall it. I get the following error when trying to install:

"Setup was unable to install some of the components needed to run Money. Try installing Money again."

    Off to grab that sledgehammer...

  • Ouch!  I am not yet running 1511.  I will give it a go tomorrow and let you know how I make out.

  • OK, I updated my Windows 10 system to 1511 build 10586.36 (overnight download) and installed Money Plus sunset US from the download available in the second "sticky" thread in this forum.  It installed fine with no errors.

I then replaced the mnyob99.dll file with the patched version as described in the second "sticky" thread in this forum.  I was then able to open my existing Money.mny file with no problems.

So I conclude that there is no basic incompatibility between 1511 build 10586.36 and Money.  Unfortunately, that doesn't help you out very much.
