  • Hello kghgfhg,

First, uninstall the trial of Office 2007 that you decided not to use.  Restart twice.

Then, try the Office XP solution in Method 2 in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us

Post back to let us know if it worked for you! :-)

  • Think I have an idea what the problem might be. I had a stationary computer until a couple of months ago when it broke down and had to be replaced. The computer was then destroyed. Since then I have installed office on another stationary computer and now want to install it onto my laptop. Is it possible that the copy on the old stationary computer is still registered? That would then make it look like office was intalled on two stationary computers and one laptop.

  • Method 2 didnt work.
What I get when I try to activiate it is a message that the product is already installed on another computer. So the problem is still that Microsoft thinks its installed on too many computers when its only installed on my stationary and laptop where it wont activate. My previous stationary computer where office xp was installed has been destroyed and no longer exists.

I dont have time for all these problems I need to be able to use office xp on my laptop ASAP!!

  • Hello kghgfhg,

    Please try telephonic activation.

    From MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300273

If you think that you received this message mistakenly, follow these steps:
    1. Click OK when the message appears.
    2. In the Office Activation Wizard dialog box, select Activate by using the telephone, and then click Next.
    3. Click Next in the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy dialog box.
    4. In the Activate your product by using the telephone dialog box, select your country or region in the list for step 1.
    5. Dial the phone number that is displayed next to step 2. A customer support representative will assist you with activating your copy of Office XP.
