Reusing actiation key windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've recently had to re-install my copy of windows 7. However due to having lost the actual disk I was forced to install from a pirated disk. I do however keep my activation key safe and have it right now. However when I try to use it to validate this copy of windows it says the activation key is invalid. I would appreciate it if anyone could guide me as to how to proceed to use my old activation key again, as the laptop I am using it on is the same one it was used on previously.

    Thank you

  • The installation is counterfeit.

You have an HP OEM_SLP Key on a DELL system with an apparent ACER SLIC table in the BIOS. There is an Activation Exploit present in an attempt to make the whole thing to work

You need to reformat and reinstall using genuine media and Key.

  •  0xC004F050 usually means that you've misread a character - either C/G/6 or B/8 or Y/V are the most common, an O/0 is almost always a Q

    Note that the following characters cannot be used - A E I L N O S U Z 1 0 - so don't bother trying unless you like the noise it makes :)

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

     Once saved, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.

To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

      - in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

You need to obtain a genuine Windows 7 installation disc and not a bogus one you apparently downloaded from the 'net.  Please see: How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software
