Automatic updates - how to turn off "URGENT"

Question
-
I do not want automatic updates; I like to KNOW what's being downloaded and installed. Is there ANY way of getting the furshlugginer "URGENT" notice to SHUT OFF in the OneCare systray thingie? (Yes, "thingie" IS a technical term!)

Hello Tim, One Care requires Automatic Update to be set to automatically download and install updates to maintain a good (green) status. Unfortunately there is no way to change this and there is no known workaround.

Do you know if they have any plans to fix this? This is really annoying. In my organization, we've lost 2 days to viruses over the last two years and 26 to microsoft automatic updates.Wednesday, August 12, 2009 10:26 AM

OneCare will not be changed to not warn you when missing updates are not installed. However, the new product, Microsoft Security Essentials, due out later this year, will not require you to have AU set to the most stringent settings. In fact, it won't monitor it at all. OneCare is at end of life, though subscriptions will be fully supported for their term. You can learn more in the announcements section of the forum.
