Why not use object instead of embed or give us the choice?

  • I guess this would be more towards the actual developers of Windows Live Writer but one thing that annoys me the most if that whenever I'm posting a video it always posts it as an embed instead of an object (and those who attempt to try to keep there site XHTML valid knows that that embed tag is not XHTML valid).

When attempting to replace embed as an object, it automatically overwrites it back over to embed.  I mena, come on, it's pretty darn annoying to publish my post, then logging into my site and update the HTML manually from there to replace it to object instead of embed just to get my site to be XHTML valid.

Just my insight, Microsoft, just my insight.

  • You should be able to change the format that we use to create the HTML tag for videos.

Open up this file in a text editor:
    C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Windows Live Writer\ResourceCache\live\VideoProvidersB2.xml

Search for the video service you use and just edit the embedFormat and editorFormat nodes.  Feel free to email us if you have a problem:
