Import Tool on CRM 4.0 Web client - how should the csv file look like? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I try to upload data with the importing tool on CRM 4.0 web client.

I could do a maping file with the following data inside:

    Internal Account Name,Main Phone,Address 1: City,Primary Contact (look-up),E-mail (Primary Contact),IndustrySector(look-up),ClientClassification(look-up),Country (look-up),AccountRelationship (look-up)

1.) What should I put in the look-up fields the GUID or the name? How should the file look like? Always colons as separetors I think but anything else?

    Thanks for the help.

    Zoltán

  • Hi Zoltan,

When you are populate a lookup field during the import data should be in this format

    "entity_name,{record_GUID}" for example: "contact,{60696D5D-4D78-B4E0-6CBEF3DF4906}"

  • csv stands for Comma Separated Values not colons.  The standard used to be commas separating with quotation marks (") around string values.

Certainly someone has an answer for you, but I gave up trying to import lookups and started writing programs that use the CRMservice.  Slow but at least I could get it done.
