Unable to locate the host LMS Scorm API Adapter

    I'm trying to participate in e-learning courses and, like others, have so far found it a very frustrating experience. Whenever I attempt to start the course by clicking the Begin Course button I get a black window with the error 'Unable to locate the host LMS Scorm API Adapter' in a messagebox.
  
  I wait for a very long time (10 minutes) and there is no download activity and nothing happens. does anyone know what may be happening?
  
  Windows XP Pro
  IE7
  Working in a Server 2003 domain logged onto domain as an Active Directory user.
