    I did a system restore. Now every time I try to run a program a windows installer dialogue box with message "preparing to install" comes and it will last a good 2-3 minutes. The dialogue box props up even if I click on the volume icon.

    Can anyone helps me with this??

    Have you installed those programs, on which you are getting "preparing to install" dialogue box, after making the Restore Point..??
