Windows 7 activation and support RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have purchased Windows 7 Home Premium (sealed, original packaging, not OEM) from Amazon and installed it few days ago on Mac OS X using Parallel Desktop. When I tried to install a program on Windows, it gave me an error:

Error 1719.Windows installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that it is properly registered and enabled.

Then I tried to contact Microsoft support, but during product ID verification, it gave me:

This Product ID indicates that you will be a charged for this Microsoft support.

The product ID number you entered must be activated through the Product Activation server before warranty support is available. For help activating your Product ID see Activating Windows: frequently asked questions. You can also select a different support option below.

Even though Windows has been activated:

    Windows Activation

    Activation was successful

Also, I have checked if it is genuine using Microsoft web/software and it has confirmed that it is.

First, I need to know how to get this activation issue fixed, to get the support needed from Microsoft. Then, get other programs installed, by fixing the windows installer issue.

  • I have tried the first method, using msconfig, but nothing happened. I don't want to use the second method, re-register windows installer, I don't want to miss-up the windows.

I might wait for a week to see if the activation is in Microsoft server!

    Thanks for your help.

  • 24 hours is usually sufficient. :\

re-register the MSI installer with following command: Msiexec \regserver

that should be safe enough - and may work.
