Office XP validation failed

Question
-
Was trying to download an update but Office XP validation failed with following message:
[0x80180101] Microsoft Office XP Small Business:
Validation Incomplete: Office Must Be ActivatedThe validation process could not be completed because your copy of Microsoft Office has not been activated
This copy has been activated since 2003 when this Dell laptop was purchased with this copy of Office XP. Previous validations for security updates have been successful. If I try to run Product Activation again it says product is already activated.

1) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
2) Delete the data.dat file.
3) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA).
4) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word (or your favorite Office application) and ACTIVATE it.
5) After product activation is successful, let’s try revalidating (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage): http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/Validate.aspx?displaylang=enNote: Make sure you have the 25-character product key for Microsoft Office available.
Does this work for you? Please let me know ASAP!
Thanks,
