Errors loged in DEUTIL.xxxxx logs (took too long) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Since installing PP1 the demigrator service has been using 100% of my CPU (for approx 15hrs now). I am fairly comfortable that this is normal due to the way the service has changed. Looking in the DEUTIL logs it looks as though every file on my server is being checked - however I notice that for nearly ALL files i get the error "took too long" as listed below:

    Any ideas whats going on?

    Thanks

  • I fixed the issue but im not sure exactly which step I did fixed the problem. I did the following:

    1) Removed duplication on all my shares

    2) Removed a disk from my system (I currently have 4 so that went down to 3)

    3) Did the regedit mod to stop VSS running

    4) Cleared out all old VSS data on my drives

    5) Removed PP1

    6) Re-enabled all shares on the RTM release

    7) Waited for DE to finish creating new shadows

    8) Reinstalled PP1

I now get none of the errors seen before and have an extra ~200GB free on my system

At least I proved to myself i can uninstall PP1 (and reinstall again!) without any issues

You should still bug report it with the problem and your resolution.  This at least informs our team that the issue does exist and there maybe a work-a-round.
