Raceanne,
Was this an upgrade version of Office 2007 Suite which you purchased? Please do me a favor. Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum. This will allow us to see what you are experiencing. In turn we will analyze your problem and develope a resolution.
Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:
1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.
Thank you,

I'm having the same issue. It's a full (not upgraded) Microsoft Action Pack Partner subscription for Office 2007, that I can't update due to the old 2003.
It says my software is genuine, and then blocks with the Office 2003 validation error.
I've tried to remove the old 2003, and there are file errors that I am unable to resolve. I'd get rid of it if I could, but it's really more important to me to get the security updates for Office 2007. I don't have a lot of time to resolve issues for software I never use.

Hello ob1knb,
I understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing and would like to provide available options we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing. Attached below is a Knowledge Base (KB) article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. This will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and explain detailed information. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT 2007 OFFICE) on your computer. If you are still having issues after this process please rerun the MGA diagnostic tool and post the results.
Thank you,
