CRM 4.0 Is there a visual tool for generating FetchXML and Layout XML? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to embed an advanced find in an iframe.  However all the examples (Thank YOU!!!!) have FetchXML that really doesn't apply to my custom entities.  So I was wondering if there is a visual tool to help generate this?

  • Hi,

    You can find (not exactly visual but cna be used to generate complex fetchxml 's) one at codeplex http://fetchxmlbuilder.codeplex.com/ , the source code is there but you might ahve to compile it to get the executable.

  • Hi try that

    Another thing you can do is create a advance find and save it. If you have access to the database you can copy it from fetchxml field of userquerybase table.

    I hope this help.

  • What About the Layout XML?

    <input type="hidden" name="FetchXml" id="fetchinput" value='' /><input type="hidden"
      name="LayoutXml" value='<grid name="resultset" object="5" jump="" select="1" icon="1" preview="1"><row name="result" id="annotationid"><cell name="subject" width="130" /><cell name="notetext" width="160" /></row></grid>' />

    Would I just change annotationid to the id field of the custom entity? also what about the 2 cell name parameters?

  • Hi,

    There is no tool available for Layout XML generator, after generating fetchXml if you are making changes manually into the LayOut XML then make sure to update attributes names correctly. There is a open source tool available for copying the view LayoutXml. You may  use this tool for replicating Views colmn layouts.
