Win XP installation disk not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a windows xp upgrade disk from Amazon a couple of years ago and I've had to do a reinstall on my laptop (laptop originally came with windows me so I've reinstalled me and now ready to upgrade). The problem is loads of files came up saying they couldn't be installed and asks me if I want to retry or skip. I think the disc is broken. Since I've paid for the license and it's the media that's not working Is there a way I can get Microsoft to replace the disk? Obviously I'm expecting to incurr a cost for the actual media but I'm expecting it to be much cheaper than buyin a new operating system disk.
