how to disambiguate an author that is being confused with another? RRS feed

  • Question

  • A colleague called my attention to the fact that Microsoft Academic repeatedly mixes my scientific production with that of someone else.

The author taking the credit without probably even knowing about it is:

      http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/5724958

I have personally checked that 23 of the 53 publications associated to him are in fact mine.  I have already corrected his name, affiliation and publication list in the system (eliminating my own papers from the list), but these changes have not yet been consolidated by Microsoft Academic.  I have also indicated that the above author should probably be merged with:

      http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/53162026/

Again, 2 of the 10 publications listed in the latter profile belong in fact to me, and I have pointed this out editing the profile.  The changes have also not yet been consolidated by Microsoft Academic.

Finally, assuming that my own profile is to be:

      http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/52375019

I have personally corrected some of my data, and uploaded a BIBTeX file with 44 papers and books by myself, which I have checked one-by-one.  However, again this change has not been consolidated by Microsoft Academic.

Is there anything I could do to help in verifying my credentials (becoming a "verified author" so that I can, for instance, edit my "advisors") and finally correct my data?

    Best,
    Joao Marcos

  • Hi Thomas,

Same with me, and it has been more than months since I've first submitted my corrections. Basically all my papers (my ID is http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/17935288)  are assigned to a different scientist http://65.54.113.26/Author/10955603/ and I was unable to correct that by entering - and approving - my own reference list.

Is it too complicated for the Microsoft staff to figure out that Michael Galperin with a "Y." from Bethesda, Maryland, is different from Michael Galperin without a "Y." from San Diego? Google got it right the very first time.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Y. Galperin
