IFD deployment in DMZ RRS feed

  • Question

  • I read the blogs and video, but still confused.

I have a CRM server internally. I have a SQL Server internally on a seperate server for CRM.

We now need to install IFD on a seperate box.

    1) What roles needs to be on this server?

    2) What needs to be installed on this server besides ADFS? Does ADFS need to be installed ALSO on the CRM server?

  • Hi,

You can install ADFS in the same CRM server or in the different server.

-->To configure ADFS you dont need any roles, just go through the deployment document you will understand the installation and configuration of ADFS for IFD.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3621

-->The main thing is if you install CRM and ADFS in same server then you need to choose 443 port for ADFS and some different port for CRM or also you can choose 443(https) for CRM and you can set the different port for ADFS.

-->If you install ADFS in different server then you can run both CRM and ADFS on 443 ports.

-->For configuring IFD for CRM2011 all matters is the DNS settings, make sure to point adfs.domain.com to ADFS Server and remaining host names to CRM Server.

  • Thanks for the response.

According to the documentation, ADFS will require to be a web server role in order to create the DNS and bind it to the default website. Correct?

  • Exactly, ADFS will be bind it to the Default Website.

You can use any port you to for Default Website to configure IFD.(Ex: 444, 5555, 555,...... )

You need to bind the certificate and port no for Default Website, while configuring ADFS it will show you the port no and the certificate.

For CRM you can use 443 if both CRM and ADFS are in same machine.
