Restore CRM 2011 after hddr failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We had 2 hddrs fail on a Raid 5 and need to restore CRM 2011 from a backup.

We are going to restore to new Servers at a diffrent branch.

Is there a step by step guide on how to do this with only the DB backups.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Please have a look at the following links (first one should be able to help you):

    1) This link has step by step. Replace their example with your CRM database and ORG.

    http://dynamics-crm2011.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/import-crm-2011-organization-including.html

    2) In this go to section "Upgrading from Dynamics CRM 4.0 32 bits". This (steps are similar) will guide your restore of CRM 2011.

    http://weblogs.asp.net/pabloperalta/archive/2010/11/01/step-by-step-installing-crm-2011-on-premise-and-migrating-from-dynamics-crm-4-0-32-bits-on-premise.aspx

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

  • Hi, Prob simple question.

i Have now restored the DB but it look like i must first Install CRM to get the "CRM Deployment Manager" Is that correct?

Also the DB i need to restore is not the CRM Config DB is it?

    The two db's i  have:

    MSCRM_CONFIG

    CRMCompanyName_MSCRM (I restored this one)

You have done everything correctly. You should restore organization database. Config database is not required and would be created during installation.

Anyone got a idea what file it is trying to execute here so that i can go to the correct destination directly?

Think it is setupserver.exe under the server dir but not sure. Going to try that now.(This did work)

  • Then another stupid question...

During installation it asks for a DB name... That would be the Config DB name that will get create during installation?

Then i am also having issues with the user accounts:

i Have a user for insecure service account for the Sandbox Processing service but is getting this:

The account specified for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Sandbox Processing Service is not valid.
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password

i Did reset the password so maybe the DC's must still sync.

    Then also

    • The account specified to run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM application does not have Performance Counter permissions.
    • The account specified to run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Asynchronous Processing Service does not have Performance Counter permissions.

Here i gave this user rights under the "Performance monitor users" but that does not seem to do the job?

  • Ok, just the sandbox user issue still to resolve and if that is the Config DB's Name it is asking for?

  • Ok, CRM is installed.

i Think i need to install some updates.

    Getting the following errors:

    1. The organization database version is not supported for upgrade.
    2. The organization database selected for import is a different version than the organization database that is currently deployed.
    3. Microsoft Dynamics CRM Reporting Extensions must be installed on SQL Server Reporting Services for reports to work. (About to install this but getting the splash screen error again. Please point me to the correct file in need to install for this.

The top updates i can get with windows updates right?

How do i see which version it needs to be? The one i can get via Win updates is update rollup 6. Scared it is to new.
