Office mobile communicator issue

Question
-
We are testing CoMo in our enterprise and I have one small issue, CoMo connects and works, but if a user initiates a instant message from a pda it fails, but if someone with the desktop client inside the enterprise initiates a instant message the user gets the message on the phone, and Como works as it should as long as the chat is open. I cannot find any documentation on this issue.
Thanks.

That seems very strange!
How did you configure your server settings on the CoMo client?

Is the mobile device communicating through an edge server or directly to the pool/front end server?Thursday, August 14, 2008 8:24 PM

It could be either. If you are connected to the internet via your mobile provider's wireless broadband connection then you will go through the edge. If your phone has Wifi capability and you are connected to your corporate LAN via wifi then you would connect directly to the front end.Thursday, August 14, 2008 8:51 PMModerator

I actually have not configured any wifi clients. I have two servers ocs..and cwa....ocs is the office communicator server.
Cwa is the web access server,,,i have the mobile clients pointing to that box...the address i use on the mobile client is...
cwa.mydomain.net:443 the next blank is ocs.mydomain.net....it authenticated and pulls in the user list just fine...

Is CWA your EDGE Server?
It sounds that you have a Communicator Web Access (CWA) server and not an EDGE
You require an EDGE Server if you want COMO to work from the internet not a CWA Server
CWA Server is like Outlook Web Access for OCS
