whs reinstall hangs during 'final installation' RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,  I needed to reinstall my whs tonight.  After booting from the installation disc and selecting 'reinstall' - everything worked like clockwork until now - it is in the 'final installation' phase and the 'intalling windows home server' with the meter below it is pure white.  It's been sitting like this for 2 hours.

Windows is running in the backgroud, but it seems like the 'windows setup' task has just stalled.  I don't know what to do at this point.  If this was a clean install I'd just restart and see what happens, but I have my data drives (3 x 1TB) in there right now.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

  • Depending on the amount of data this final phase may take a considerable amount of time (hours to days). Please DO NOT interrupt!

  • To supplement what brubber has said, with 3 TB of data you're looking at "days" if the system disk was completely wiped/replaced.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
