Too many duplicate threads

Question
-
I'm exhausted getting rid of the many duplicate threads in the forums I moderate. It's been pretty bad again these past few weeks. My current working theory on why there are so many:
- User clicks on Ask A Question in the main page
- Types question, clicks submit
- No visible feedback the question made it, user clicks on My Threads
- The thread isn't visible, it takes 5 minutes or more for it to show up
- Thinking something went wrong, user re-enters question.
I vaguely remember a proposal for removing the Ask A Question link from the main page being shot down before. Please consider automatically redirecting the page to the forum to which the user posted so it is immediately obvious that the question did in fact make it. Redirecting to the actual thread would work too.

I don't get enough duplicate threads (in the way you mean it) for it to be worthwhile to do anything about it.
I get on average (in all the SharePoint forums) about one a day.
What I get more of (enough to be irritating but again not really enough to need action from the forum software writers) are people who post the same post in two (or more) different forums. These are typically within seconds of each other (so aren't the result of not seeing the first post) and are harder to spot if you (as I do at the start of the day) work through each forum in order. They are however very easy to spot when using My Forums Threads (which I use the rest of the day).
I don't really see the connection between Ask A Question and posting duplicate posts. To my mind duplicate posts in the same forum are the result of impatience while duplicate posts in different forums are the result both of wanting a fast reply and ignorance.
