SaveAs? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Has anyone a work-around for this?

On the MSWindows SaveAttachment and SaveAs dialogues:
I regard it as an exceptionally poor piece of design in entrapping users to the potential of double file loss. One by reassigning the button function - Save/Open, and two by resetting the file name from any inadvertent mouse-over. I frequently find myself having to cycle through the process more than once, upon avoiding the effect at the final moment. Very poor MicroSoft design and an opportunity for someone to improve on it.

My cousin has sent me a jpeg and I want to store it in a directory along with others

Navigating. The 'Save' button changes to 'Open' upon mouse-over directories

but on reaching the destination directory an inadvertant mouse-over event has changed the file name

so we can save LEStreetMap under a wrong name, overwriting and in effect loosing both files,
or hit 'Cancel' to go around it all over again.
