I can't figure out which forum to post this to so I picked "Live Mesh" because it sounds like a rock band. If someone knows a better forum for my inquiry, please tell me what it is.
I have a new netbook whose O/S is Windows XP and which comes equipped with Outlook Express. I have two residences - one in Wisconsin and one in Chicago, each with a completely different cable/internet ISP. My e-mail account is with the Wisconsin ISP, because of whose policies I can only send e-mails using the SMTP server associated to the particular Internet connection from which I am working at the time (the PwOP server doesn't need to be changed). To put it another way, when I am in Chicago, my SMPT server setting under Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties/Servers has to be my Chicago ISP SMPT server and when I am in Wisconsin, my SMPT server setting under Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties/Servers has to be my Wisconsin ISP SMPT server. All other Account settings remain constant, regardless of where I am.
Although everything works fine, I would like to be able to send e-mails from each location without having to change SMPT server information each time I switch locations. Setting up two different identities doesn't work for me because I need to work with a common set of E-mail folders. So I set up two separate Mail Accounts under Tools/Accounts/Mail - one for Wisconsin and one for Chicago. The problem is that there doesn't appear to be a simple way to toggle between them or even to activate a particular account once I open Outlook Express. Outlook Express' help site doesn't appear to cover this.
First thing I would do wold be to install the latest version of Outlook Express (which is actually now called Windows Live Mail) from http://download.live.com/.
I haven't used Outlook Express for years so can't remember anything about it but I know that Windows Live Mail makes it very very easy to use multiple accounts because that's how I use it.
