Windows 7 is not authentic

Question
-
New Emachine computer upon restart yesterday told me my Windows 7 was not authentic. It won't keep a wallpaper on the screen either, don't know if that's related. I ran the MGA tool but can't find a program on my computer that will display it. Is there anyway I can send you the file and see if you can display it>? It saved as a .dat file but notepad or wordpad will display it. Im lost here.Monday, June 14, 2010 4:22 PM

Press the win key and pause at the same time, scroll to the lower portion of the system properties screen, select change product key, insert the key on that sticker then activate by phone using the following steps.
1. Type "slui 4" in the start menu search box, hit enter
2. Select country or region
3. Dial the number, DO NOT select any menu options, just wait and a person will pick up.
4. activate by phone.
5. Go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and attempt to validate windows and report any problems here, include any error messages.

I see that you ran the MGA program and had a problem with it. I will paste the instructions from Darin, please re-download from the link below, run the program, if it runs correctly you will see a button that says copy, click that and paste the results in this thread.
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

If you are still unable to post a Diagnostic Report, create a (no cost) support request at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactwga for further assistance.

Look for a COA sticker on the back or side of your computer, it will state what version of windows is supposed to be installed on your computer. Please tell us what verion is listed on that sticker, DO NOT POST THE KEY that is displayed on the sticker, just tell us the verions stated on the sticker. Your computer, from this report has a bios verion from early 2009 that does not support windows 7 SLP activation. Also, the system specs do not reflect that it came with windows 7. You may need to take it back to the store you bought it from and return it or have them fix it.

Great, can you let my wife know that?Wednesday, June 16, 2010 2:14 AM -
Lol. I would. What about the bios that does not support Windows 7?Wednesday, June 16, 2010 3:35 AM

You are activated with the COA SLP key, that is a backup for normal SLP activation for cases such as yours. You may be able to find a bios update from your manufacturer that would enable SLP activation but that is a mute point now and I do not like to tell people to flash a bios, bad things can happen if it fails. However, if you are interested in pursuing that I would recomend you read up on bios flashing. It isn't neccesary though.
