windows xp home detecting camcorder connected with IEEE-1394

  Our Windows XP Home computers no longer plug and play when an IEEE-1394 connected digital camcorder is attached. There is no response when the connector is inserted. It worked up until about 6 mos ago, and I suspect it is linked to one of the Windows updates that were automatically installed.

  Any ideas?
