MS HPC - Topology questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    MS HPC Failover cluster ( Enterprise,Private )

    Computer Node - 1 Network ( Enterprise).

does my configuration comes under which topology?

Note Sure it's Topology 5 since Head node has got Private Network for cluster communication.? Do i need to count this Cluster Heartbeat Private Network as part of topology design?... Please advise

    Best Regards,

  • If you have Topology 5 the cluster communication is done through the Enterprise network.

  • Hi Veera,

Microsoft HPC network "topologies" are defined by network connectivity to your 'head node'.  If your compute nodes have only 1 network connection to the 'Enterprise' (domain) network, then you have topology 5.   If your compute nodes have only 1 network connection to a 'private' network (i.e. network routing is required by your head node) then you have have topo 1...  The network wizard's pictures should help to visualize these concepts.
