Valid license, or not? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Machine from a closed shop.

    Windows 7 ultimate.

Has some sort of windows license sticker on it, but so eroded it could be a mickey mouse's phone number for all I can read.

Shows as Validated, in windows Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System\WindowsActivation

Sometimes (about 1 per week) I get either the at-load "your windows is not genuine" or the on-desktop background display of the same. Which then promptly goes away by itself.

There is a repair sticker from a pc repair shop on it, so it may possible that the m/b, cpu or hdd was changed at some point...

Ran MGA diagnostic tool: copy below.

So. Is my windows licensed, or not?

If it is, how do I fix the oddcasional display of "not genuine"?

  • It is counterfeit.  You have an OEM SLP Product Key from an HP computer, but the SLIC table shows it is from an Acer but is installed on a Retail motherboard.  To top it off, the BIOS is from March of 2013 which probably means it had Windows 8 on it to start with.  You will need to purchase a legal copy of Windows, format your drive and reinstall.  Be sure to back up your data first.
