KB949810 update fails with 0x80070643 Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have read as much as I can find on the internet about this problem, but I can't solve it. The update above will not install no matter what I do. So, I've obtained the information from the MGADIAG utility and here it is. Any help is appreciated.

It is important to note I do not own this computer, I am working on it for someone at work. I am in IT so I have a good working knowledge of most of this stuff, but this one last thing eludes me. It is the only update left that won't install.

  • Hello street0909,

Regardless of the fact that KB949810 is the OGA Notifier, troubleshooting it before it is fully installed is a Windows Update issue and not a WGA/OGA issue.

However, over the last few months several very cooperative posters have told us these things that they found out "the hard way" about KB 949810:

    1.  KB949810 can hang up if the task scheduler service is not running and set to run automatically.

    2.  Check exisiting scheduled tasks; if there is one for an Office Genuine Advantage event, delete it, restart, and try the update once more.

    Hope that helps!
