Windows Home Server 2011 & Hyper-V installation problem RRS feed

  • I'm trying to install Windows Home Server 2011 on a Hyper-V server and the installer is failing for me, i've included the log if someone can tell what's going wrong with it and help me out I'd much appreciate it.

  • Bad media?  Have you tried redownloading the iso?
     
    It installed fine for me in Hyper-v other than the DHCP issue.  I
    installed from the iso directly.

  • You say it's failing, but you don't say how.
     
    If it's just sitting there and never continuing during the hardware
    phase, , just go into the VM's settings when it's doing that and
    change the NIC to "Not connected", wait a few seconds, then change it
    back to your external network, then the install should continue. 
     
    There's a bug in Vail and/or Hyper-v that makes it iffy if it gets an
    IP address in time from your DHCP server and the Vail install just
    kind of stalls out in that situation.

  • It gets to nearly the end of 'Expanding Windows files' (96%) then just stops with 'There was a problem during the installation' giving a link to the above installation error log file.
