# normalization RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just starting to get OCS 2007 up and going.  Having trouble getting some of our numbers normalized.  Got our 555-555-5555 #'s straightened out but can't find how to handle 555-555-5555 x5555 or 555-555-5555 x 5555.  I'm assuming this is a fairly common way of entering phone #'s with extensions to AD?  Anyone got the rule for that?  Thanks in advance!

  • The rule would look someting like this:

    #
    # (ddd) ddd-dddd xdddd
    #

    (\s*)\(?\s*(\d\d\d)\s*\)?[\s()\-\./]*(\d\d\d)[\s()\-\./]*(\d\d\d\d)[,\s\w]*(\d\d\d\d)
    +1$2$3$4;ext=$5

  • Thanks guys!  Jeff - I originally used your rule for all my 10-digit number normalization. Jaime - That rule worked for my 10-digits with 4-digit exts.
