MCT questions

Question
-
Hi All,
I have questions regarding MCT program. Thank you in advance for any feedback.
(1) Does Microsoft allow MCTs to teach all the courses in the library or only the courses related to MCT's main certifications ?
e.g. I became MCP after having passed 70-632 (PRJ2007) and I recently signed up for an MCT course. If I become an MCT after having the course, can I teach the courses other than #5927 (the only official course listed for Project 2007) in the library ?
(2) I have already been teaching with my own program for a couple of years. I believe that I have to teach at least one #5927 course (instead of my course) within the first 12 months after receiving MCT degree -and I have to send the course evaluation by the participants to Microsoft. If this is correct:
- Do I have to use an official evaluation form to receive feedback from participants ?
- What happens if the participants become totally dissatisfied after the first course ?
- Do I have to purchase 5927 to use as training material ? If so how much is it ?
- Can I teach the class (5927) as a freelancer without working at a Microsoft Partner ?
(3) Questions related to renewal
- What happens if I don't teach 5927 later on (after the 1st one) ? Does it affect renewal process e.g. invalidating my MCT status ?
- How much is the renewal fee ?
- Does my MCT expires if my original MCP certification expires ?
(4) I believe the courses are not in multiple languages (5927 at least). Does it make sense to be an MCT in a non-english speaking country ?
Thanks again for any feedback.A small note: I have already browsed the forum for answers and the official MCT site for requirements but couldn't find answers.
All the Best

You will find answers to most of your questions here http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mct.aspx#tab3
1) You can only teach course that align with your certification i.e. you must pass an exam for a technology before you can teach it. If you login to the MCP/MCT site and view your transcript, it will show you what courses/streams you can teach.
2) When you become a MCT, you need to enrol in Metrics-that-Matter and use the evaluation forms provided by them. Yes you will need to use Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) and the cost varies from country to country. Yes you can teach as a freelancer however you courses need to be run on the premises of a Microsoft Partner. Microsoft can cancel your MCT status if they believe you're not providing quality courses.
3) No it doesn't affect your MCT status. Renewal fees differ from country to country. No your MCP doesn't expire if your original certification expires.
4) Some courses are in multiple languages and yes it makes sense to be an MCT in a non-english speaking country as some MCT's have taken MOC and created courses in different languages.

I am an MCT in a non-English speaking country. There are many MOC courses that are translated into other languages, including my native Spanish. Note that the translated version has a different course number, for example, the Spanish version of 2780 is course number 5406.When you need to teach a course that is not translated, you just teach the English version. When I have to do that, I display the slides in English, but I explain them to the students in Spanish. When it comes the time to do the labs, I usually find that the students can read English well enough to follow the written instructions. When they don't, I convert the lab into a guided practice.
As to some of your other questions:
You can teach anything that you want using any materials that you want, as long as it is a private class. If you choose to use MOC materials, then they need to be purchased by a certified partner; you cannot purchase them yourself directly from Microsoft.
If you want to teach a public class using official courseware, then it can only be done at a CPLS. The CPLS is required to hire an MCT to teach these classes, and they are also required to use the MTM evaluations. If you teach a private class yourself, then you may use MTM but you are not required to.

If I need a CPLS to teach a MOC course there is no meaning to be an MCT as an individual freelancing. Besides, both MCT training course and Microsoft Software are not free then why it is required to pay for MOC material.
I still got time to cancel the MCT course. Thank you for all the information, I really appreciate your time.

I am a freelance MCT and I get quite a lot of work from CPLS's because they are unable to get their own MCT's to present a course. There are also quite a number of benefits for being a MCT so I would recommend that you go ahead with becomming a MCT :-)

Thank you for your quick response.
I do not work at a CPLS. I understand that the only way to keep my MCT status is to find a CPLS and teach a MOC course at CPLS's premises; and of course, MTM evaluations by the participants should meet the Microsoft standards. This has to be done at least once in the first year of MCT status (provided that I took the MCT training course and qualified as an MCT by Microsoft). CPLS is going to buy MOC material.
If I need a CPLS to teach a MOC course ("for even once") there is no meaning to be an MCT as an individual freelancing. And I am not comfortable with the fact that CPLS has to purchase MOC material. The cost will directly be reflected on the course price. I still got time to cancel the MCT course. It does not seem feasible to me if I do not work at a CPLS.
Thank you for all the information, I really appreciate your time.
Best Regards,
JN Brown.
