Disable windows update for CRM server/client

Question
-
Hi!
After experiencing issues with UR12 we want to disable automatic windows updates for CRM. I know I can set windows update to just warn me and not install automatically, but for the client side this is not an acceptable solution. When installing the server bits I believe there was an option to not use windows update, is it possible to disable this after install? Meaning I don't want CRM updates for the server to show up in windows update at all. Same question for the Outlook client, except that I don't se an option to not use windows update when installing the client. Really appreciate any help, thank you!

Hi,
Use the following registry on the Outlook clients:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient\AutoUpdateDisabled
DWORD
0 = Enabled
1 = Disabled

When using CRM 2011 for Outlook the MSCRMClient key does not exist in the registry, at least it didn't on my machine which has the 2011 Outlook add-in and UR11. I tried adding the key and the DWORD value manually, but UR12 still shows up in Windows Update. I think this registry setting only works for 4.0, might that be correct?Wednesday, February 13, 2013 12:58 PM

Thanks, I'm aware of WSUS, but was hoping to find a simpler solution.Wednesday, February 13, 2013 4:34 PM

Does anyone else have some direction on this? I would like to bypass the client going to UR 12, while the server is on UR 11.
Also, not really ready to deal with bringing the server up to UR12 either.
The reason for trying to bring the client back down to UR 11 is in hopes that it would remedy some issues users are having with tracking in the Outlook client.
We have a bunch of users using the outlook client in a Citrix environment and some locally on desktop. Only the users on Citrix environment are having the issues. Sometimes tracks, sometimes doesn't, sometimes immediately, sometimes with a delay.
Any help would be appreciated.
