WHStrayapp memory leak? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've started to notice that the tray app memory footprint grows over time.  I just looked today and it was using 85MB!  After closing it and restarting, it was 7.8 MB!  Sorry to just be reporting this but...

  • Hmm... interesting... checking out 3 of my clients...

Client 1: Vista Ultimate - task manager shows WHSTrayApp using 1,236K

Client 2: Vista Ultimate - task manager shows WHSTrayApp using 1,684K

Client 3: XP MCE - task manager shows WHSTrayApp using 3,016K and WHSConnector using 7,240K

I must assume the WHSConnector running on the XP box is XP specific, not seeing that on the Vista boxes and not having the WHS console app open on the XP box.

What OS are you running on the client? When you say you closed it and restarted, did you just close and restart the tray app or did you restart the OS? Not that I have an answer for you, just curious...

    Thanks,

  • I typically see 6-8 MB on client PCs for the tray app, and another 4 or so for the connector. This is on PCs that are rebooted once a week or so, just before the reboot.
