Replaced motherboard a month ago, now get "not genuine" message RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here's the output from the diagnostic tool.  At the same time I had to reinstall from the recovery partition, and bypass one of the OEM's tools that runs during startup since the motherboard isn't exactly what the OEM used.

  • Unfortunately, an OEM SLP Windows 7 license that comes preinstalled on many PCs is permanently tied to the PC manufacturer's proprietary motherboard.  Therefore, that license cannot be reused nor activated on a different motherboard.  To resolve your issue, you'll need to purchase a new edition of Windows 7 and proceed to change the product key
