Is there a way to save program statements, along with their values (a kind of trace?)

    Question

  • I know how to debug using the debug menu (f9, f10, f11, f5 etcetera) but I usually supplement that with debug statements that write to a file.

    For instance, if I had a line in my code such as:

    MeaningOfLife = 5 * friendship + 60 * whiskey + 8 * money;

    then I might not just want to record that values of each variable, but also record the entire statement so I know why the variables are the way they are.

    Is there any built-in feature in Visual Studio that will do this for me?

    Thanks
