shutdown command as restricted user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all
I need to have an icon on the desktop that will allow a restricted user to shut down the machine locallly, and i cannot use the windows' "shutdown" button

however when i use the windows shutdown command i get "a required privilege is not held by the client"

anybody knows which setting in the steadystate controls this feature?

    thanks in advance

  • Hi saargrin, I'd like to inform you that if you run the command as standard user/power user, you will receive the error message, as non-administrator user does not have privilege to use the command to shutdown the computer. This error is not caused by Windows SteadyState restriction. After elevating the user to administrator, you will no longer receive such error message.

    Hope this helps!
