homeserver.com dns entry still points to my dynamic ip after no longer using WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I haven't used WHS for over a year and a half now and the homeserver address and port still point to my dynamic IP. I no longer have the server. So how do I unregister this address? I recently have had hackers trying to attack my network via this and need to delete the entry in the DNS Server.

  • You don't "unregister" the address. You can try resetting your broadband modem; often that will cause your ISP to issue you a new IP address.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • And if the reset doesn't work, try unplugging your modem overnight.  That will give someone else a chance to pick up the current one.

  • Edit:  Current one = current ip address.

  • No way to "reset" the modem by my ISP. So I will leave it unplugged tonight. Thanks for the tips. I hope this helps.
