  • Question

  • Being from an island with international calls quite expensive,

Do I have any other options than phoning to sort this problem? (I think I reinstalled too many times - lesson learnt )

My pardon for bothering and Thank you.

  • Strange error, that one, for a Retail Key:) (it's normally associated with Volume Licenses - and indicates that the Key has been used as much as allowed)

It probably means that you've activated the install more than 5 times - and need to telephone activate so that they can check your ownership. This may be done using normal telephone activation through the automated process, or it may need you to bypass the automation routine and speak to a rep.
Try the automated service first - as I say, it should take less than 5 minutes.

If it fails, rather than attempting to hold on, hang up, and redial the number - this time when asked which service you require do NOT respond - you will eventually be put through to a rep who can deal with your problem.

    Have you tried Internet Activation?
I can see nothing in your report that would prevent that from working - what error message to you get when you try?
I see that the phone number from Mauritius is a 33 code - which is France, I believe?
Telephone activation normally takes less than 5 minutes.

It's the number of time that you are still allowed to extend the 'grace period' in case of problems with activation. - don't worry about it :)

  • Thanks Noel,

I only tried the Internet Activation.

    The message says:

Type a different product key for activation

The product key you typed cannot be used to activate windows on this computer.

In show me details for error that requires this change:

    Code: 0xC004C008

The activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used.
