CRM 2016 "Online" ?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I know the product Dynamics CRM 2016 On Premise. I got the information, that there exists a "Online" version from CRM 2016.

Using google I only found the product "Microsoft Dynamics 365", that should contain CRM und ERP (Navision) functionality.

Is "Microsoft Dynamics 365" the online version from (1.) Dynamics CRM 2016 and (2.) Dynamics Navision 2017?

    Thanks,
    Christian

  • Dynamics 365 includes CRM 8.2 (CRM 2016 was originally CRM 8.0, then there was a CRM 8.1 release for CRM Online in Spring 2016). Dynamics 365 also includes ERP functions as Dynamics Operations (now) and Financials (in 2017). Dynamics 365 will have a Business Edition and an Enterprise Edition; for the Business Edition the Financials will be based on NAV, and for the Enterprise Edition they'll be based on AX

  • Hi David,

    thanks for your help.

    I understand it like following?

    1. There exists the new product Dynamics 365, that contains modules from CRM, NAV and AX. Depending on the version (Business or Enterprise) it can be a Cloud on On Premise installation. The On Premise installation is only in the Enterprise edition a option.
    2. From the "old" CRM product exists still the version CRM 2016 Online.

    I found a helping link:

What is the API to read entities from CRM 2016 Online?

What is the API to read entities from Dynamics 365?

    Thanks,

  • Both CRM 2016 Online and Dynamics 365 have the same API, as documented at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh547453.aspx

In the future, Dynamics 365 will include Common Data Services, which will allow you to read data across the component products (CRM, NAV, AX), but that's not available yet
