I haven't done a backup/restore lately, so Jim may be correct, but as far as I recall, you have never been able to specify the destination for the restore. OneCare will restore files to their original locations. If the file already exists in that location, it restores to a folder on the drive that it creates to restore files to. Create a new folder on the external drive. Start One Care restore and select "Custom Restore'. Browse to the new folder you created when prompted for a destination.
