Can't download new word template. RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I attempt to download a new calendar template in Office Word 2007 it tells me that it needs to validate my copy of Office. It attempts to validate but fails and says "You may be a victim of software conterfeiting. The following Microsoft Office software installed on this computer is not genuine: Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007." So I click the "Get Genuine" buttom. It takes me to the Genuine Microsoft Software website to validate my Office and it tells me "Validation Successful!" but when I try to download the calendar again in Office it does the same thing. I know I have a genuine copy of Office. Here is the Diagnostic Tools info:

    monsieurgrand02,

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Standard 2007 - 100 Genuine

    Based on the information above all office versions are genuine, however Office Home and Student 2007 did not come

    up in our analysis.

    Having multiple versions of Office however, can lead to issues and it may be easier to keep just one version of Office.

    Before you remove anything, please back up your data.  Office Home and Student may be a trial version and may need to be removed to remove the non-validated status.

    You can go to Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and choose to remove the Office product that you will not use.

    Re-validate using the diagnostic tool here at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ using Internet Explorer and let us

    know if you are still unable to validate the Office product.

  • I've also tried using both Firefox 3.0 and IE to Validate. Both browser do the same thing.

  • Monsieurgrand02,

    You have two versions installed. Which one is a trial version?

    Thank you,

  • Thank you Stephen and Lori.  I too had a trial version of Office installed.  After removing it I had no problem downloading templates.
