  • In November 2007 my Live OneCare was to expired.  So I bought a new copy at BestBuy and installed in my laptop with the hope that I will also install it in two other PC.  Unfortunately my laptop crashed and I had to re-install the machine at factory setting and forgot about the Live OneCare installation.

Now that I need to reinstall the latest version bought in December, which is the version that was installed before the computer crashed.  However the installation says that the number is already used.  It asked a bunch of questions, promised to send the information to an "alternate" e-mail but so far, 24 hours after, hasn't showed up in my alternate e-mail or anywhere else that I can see.

Is there any way to star all over again and unlock the number, or at least find where is my user id associated with the version bought in November 2007?  The problem seems to be related to the fact that I probably created a new account when I install the november 2007 version.

I think the installation aparatus is too cumbersone and the protection scheme, too taxing.

  • If you have an active subscription, which is what was created when you activated on the first computer, you need to use the same LiveID on the subsequent activations. You can't use the same key twice. If you are arriving at a screen to purchase or provide a token, you are likely not using the same LiveID as the subscription ID.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate the reinstall.
