Media extenders and WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Do Media Extenders like Linksys DMA-2100 and D-Link MediaLounge DSM-750 work with WHS?  I see that WHS supports media connect but I'm not sure if that's the same thing or not.

  • No, Media Center extenders only work with a Media Center. And then only with Vista MCE. Vista has to be "on" to stream from WHS media shares.. You can try the Sage TV extender, it will work. HP has a new extender for their version of WHS as well. Other " extender " like devices, such as Popcorn Hour can stream from WHS. And, officially, Media Center cannot run on WHS ( ).

  • We Got Served (http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/) is a great resource for working out how to make the connections between MCE and this VERY OBVIOUS gap in the WHS product
