problems with Internet Explorer 7 download

  I have a valid windows xp pro 64 bit. I downloaded internet explorer 7 when it was still in testing. Than about 5-6 months ago my gateway computers big fix had a compatibility issue and would not work. I deleted IE7 and Big fix. I have tried to download IE7 since than and it doesn't download right. The info bar just has the IE7 emblem but will not tell you what site you are in or anything. Also it has problems running sometimes. Than when windows updates auotmatically comes up it starts downloading nad thna shows up having a problem downloading. Please if anyone has any advice about how to deal with this it would be be greatly appreciated. Thank You
