Attaching Photos to Outlook email in Windows 10

    Question

  • When I try to attach a photo to an email it just disappears. In Win 8.1 an Outlook Email opened with the JPG in place. In Windows 10.......Nothing!

I have set Outlook as my "Default Program" for email. What am I missing?

    HELP!

  • Hello,

You should ask in the Microsoft Office Word Community Forums.

or, you could ask in the Windows 10 Community forum on Microsoft Community.

As the Microsoft Community is on a different platform, we cannot move the question for you.

Once there, click on Participate near the top of the screen, and select 'Ask a Question' or 'Start a Discussion'

  • This issue is mainly caused by protected view settings for files. When we update to windows 10, the file permissions changes to protected by default and that's why we are not able to attach files in Windows 10 mail. We can change these files option by using command prompt.

    • Launch the command prompt as admin from start Menu
    • Now paste the following command “%programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15” /grant *S-1-15-2-1:(0)(CI)RX.

This will change file permission and remove protected view.
