  • Question

  • Is it possible to disable this button:

I tried the ribbon workbench, found the image, but it does not offer the disable option

  • I would hide the "+NEW" button using ribbon workbench if the user never have to click on the button and the user doesn't have to have the visual of the button (very easy to do using Ribbon Workbench; Open the solution containing contact entity > select 'Form' on the top right hand side drop down > right click on the 'New' button within ribbon workbench, then select and click 'Hide Button' and Publish) http://www.develop1.net/public/page/Ribbon-Workbench-for-Dynamics-CRM-2011.aspx).

But If you need the visual of "+NEW" button but disabled then I will probably need to define/write a rule. The following post may be helpful. http://garethtuckercrm.com/2013/11/25/dynamically-disable-ribbon-buttons-in-dynamics-crm/

  • Hi,

You can make a security role that does not allow users to create a new record.

  • The problem is I want some records to be produced through a plugin, never manually. if I use roles, it will remove the button but will stop the plugin to create the record also

  • CRM 2013 does not support disabled buttons.

All buttons in the web client are either visible or not, rather than visible but disabled.

You can either take away the Create privileges for the users who should not see this, or hide the button based on a rule (such as some other privilege, or membership of a particular Team or BU), or hide the button all the time.

    Hope this helps.

  • that's the catch. that button is not editable by the Ribbon Workbench. if you manage to do it, please let me know, it could be I don't have the latest version os something is messed up on my environment. I'll check the rule

  • I could see now the +NEW after updating to the latest ribbom workbench. it may be a pretty recent release because I've used that now long ago

  • Hi!

Yes - you are right, the latest version fixed an issue where this button wasn't being displayed on the Command Bar view - it was only on the Ribbon View.

    Thanks,

    Scott
