WGA Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I received a WGA warning stating my version of XP is not genuine.  I know it is because I've had it on my computer for over 4 years.  According to a thread I read, I should post the question here, along with the results of a WGA diagnostic tool.  Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

    Thanks.  Results below:

  • Hi 14654,

Thank you for posting your diagnostic output.  It does show that your Windows installation validates as genuine.

    Can you try the following:

    1) Click the START button.
    2) Click RUN.
    3) Type the following command:  wgatray.exe /b
    4) Click OK.
    5) Reboot the computer.

Do you still receive non-genuine notifications?  You can also download the newest version of the notifications tool from here if you would like:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b308d840-b1ee-4d55-ad5e-68b21aed1b6f&DisplayLang=en  - Since you are genuine, you will not see any 'notifications' from it, but it will also run the steps I outlined above automatically.

    Thanks!
    Michelle
