  • Question

One care tune-up cannot complete successfully because it freezes everytime when defraging.  Using Vista SP1.  Defragmentation freezes if done from the start menu or in DOS, as well.

Next, click on the Tools tab and then on the Check Now button. Check the box labeled “Automatically fix file system errors”, and then click Start. Any file system errors that might be halting the defragmenter should be identified and fixed. It takes more time and effort to run Check Disk with the “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors” box checked, but this would be advisable if the simple scan doesn’t detect any errors, or if the repairs it makes don’t solve the problem.

If this fails to fix the problem, then please contact OneCare Support: http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2
